No Contact Order Assessments
Putting a No Contact Order in place is one of the first things to happen when someone is charged with assaulting a family member. This order will name the alleged victim as the protected party. Frequently, the response is an immediate request to have the NCO rescinded or modified.
This will not happen directly following a booking and arraignment of assaulting a family member. There are several factors to consider.
Domestic Violence Forensics
A domestic violence forensic approach dictates an understanding of static, dynamic, and protective factors related to criminal re-offending. The examiner must be an expert in the assessment and treatment of criminal offenders.
Careful Assessments
When assessing the risk of an offender, the stakes are high. As a forensic professional, I shoulder a huge burden of responsibility. The decisions made based on my assessments could have a profound impact upon the individual who was assessed, as well as the community at large.
If I assess a high-risk individual as being low risk, I would not be protecting the public from harm. At the same time, assessing low risk individuals assessed as being high-risk could result in life altering consequences for them and outcomes they don’t deserve.
I use tools that help me reach a fair and impartial NCO assessment.
